Social & Networking Programme

Social & Networking Programme

We are organizing a variety of social events to take place during the Congress. We are aiming to provide networking opportunities in a friendly atmosphere especially since we have not met in such a large group since 2019.

Opening Ceremony

On Wednesday afternoon we will hold the Opening Ceremony for Congress in the building of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra , which is the pride of Katowice. We will have the opportunity to listen to a sample of the Orchestra’s superb repertoire and experience the concert hall acoustics. . The audience will have the opportunity to listen to the performance of Maurice Ravel’s Bolero and Krzesany, composed by Wojciech Kilar – well known as a movie composer who has been living in Katowice for many years. The Orchestra will be conducted by Irene Delgado-Jiménez. The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a free reception where delegates can meet up with old acquaintances and make new ones.

EAWOP President’s Breakfast

If this is your first time attending the EAWOP congress,  you are invited to join us for an informal breakfast event on Thursday morning.  You will have the opportunity to meet other first timers as well as some veteran EAWOP members.  The breakfast will take place before the regular programme and is an opportunity to gain tips on how to get the most out of the congress or discuss what is the best way to select which sessions to go to and practice your networking skills.  EAWOP Executive Committee members will be there to explain how to get the most out of your EAWOP membership as well.  Join us for coffee and a croissant before you go to your first congress session.

Social Hours

On Friday, towards the end of the regular congress day, there will be a fantastic opportunity for those who are interested in increasing their chance of getting published, to meet EAWOP journals editors. Main sponsors of the journal’s social hour are Taylor and Francis, publisher of
the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology and Sage, publisher of  Organizational Psychology Review. During this networking event, you can also meet the editorial board of  In Practice.

Representatives of other EAWOP activities such as Summer Schools, WorkLabs, and Small Group Meetings will also be present to share information about upcoming events.  It is a chance for past participants in these events to catch up and those interested in taking part to learn more about what they offer.

There will be further opportunities for those who are interested in getting involved with the Erasmus Mundus Master in WOP-P and IAAP Division 1. With a glass of wine and snacks available, you can talk with experienced people and gather some advice as a future organizer or participant.

Social Event

On Friday evening, we have plans for a Social Event at the Congress venue from 19.00 to 22.00. There will be food and drink and an opportunity to get to know each other through informal conversation. This is not a formal dinner – we promise a relaxing atmosphere with a karaoke showdown for those willing to express themselves. Tickets for the event are €45 (including VAT) and can be booked during (or after) registration.
